DR.WU collaborates with The Garden of Hope Foundation in charity
Donating computers to close the digital learning divide for children in remote areas

Ever since the launch of the charity program - WU CARE, DR.WU the No. 1 clinical skincare brand in Taiwan has been cooperating with The Garden of Hope Foundation, Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation, HONDAO Senior Citizen's Welfare Foundation, and earthquake relief organizations based in Hualien to provide timely assistance to people in need, such as children living in remote area, children with Down's syndrome, underprivileged women, victims of natural disaster etc., while spreading the value: WU CARE WE CARE. Through this program, DR.WU not only contributes its own resources but also hopes to lead by example and rally more benefactors to the cause. This year, DR.WU teamed up with The Garden of Hope Foundation once again and donated 47 renewed computers to children living in remote areas, so that the children may have the means to learn online, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This gesture also enabled old computers to be used to their fullest potential, thereby saving resources for the protection of the environment!

Online learning has become the new norm in education as the threat of COVID-19 persists into the third year; however, children living in remote areas are so deprived of equipment that they find their learning progress hindered due to the widening digital divide. To address this shortcoming, schools and charity organizations have been actively sourcing tablets and computers and loaning them to children in need. Being the leading clinical skincare brand in Taiwan, DR.WU continued its charity efforts this year and donated 47 renewed computers through The Garden of Hope Foundation to help children living in remote areas with online learning.

Although the computers were not new by any means, they were thoroughly tested, assembled, refurbished and had operating systems and software reinstalled by experienced engineers before being donated, and were more powerful and capable of handling general word processing and remote teaching tasks than the tablets that schools loan to their students. To many children living in remote areas, it is exciting to have a computer all to self without sharing with others, and the machine may be the closest thing they have to a study buddy. The children were very pleased with the gift and said: "It is much faster and much easier to use." "The new computer is fast! I am very happy with it!" Meanwhile, The Garden of Hope Foundation responded: "We are very grateful for DR.WU's donation. The computers have been optimized to deliver online learning at greater speed and stability without disruption, thus making the learning experience more enjoyable as a result!"

Donating renewed computers not only helps children in need and narrows down the urban-suburban learning cap caused by distance and access to resources, but also gives idle assets a new life and purpose. By reusing resources, the organization takes part in energy conservation and contributes to the protection of the environment. Through WU CARE, DR.WU hopes to bring the public's attention to charitable causes and looks forward to expand its charity efforts in terms of program diversity as well as donee size, turning WU CARE into WE CARE so that more people are motivated to spread kindness by lending a helping hand!
